Notarial Act

Not sure which service you need? These visual guides break down each notarial act — what it is, when you need it, and how it works.

1
Acknowledgment
The most common notarial act
An acknowledgment confirms that the person who signed a document did so willingly and is who they claim to be. The notary verifies identity — they do NOT certify the truth of the document's contents.
Signer Appears
ID Verified
Signature Confirmed
Seal Applied
Used for: Deeds, mortgages, contracts, powers of attorney
Signer does NOT need to sign in the notary's presence
Must acknowledge signing was voluntary
2
Jurat
Sworn statement certification
A jurat requires the signer to sign the document IN the notary's presence AND take an oath or affirmation that the contents are true. More formal than an acknowledgment.
Signer Appears
Oath Administered
Signs in Presence
Seal Applied
Used for: Affidavits, depositions, court documents
Signer MUST sign in the notary's physical presence
Carries legal penalties for false statements

Grant authority legally & securely
A Power of Attorney (POA) grants another person legal authority to act on your behalf. Notarization makes it legally enforceable — required by banks, courts, and government agencies.
General POA — broad authority over financial/legal matters
Durable POA — remains valid if you become incapacitated
Limited POA — authority for a specific transaction only
Healthcare POA — medical decisions on your behalf
Springing POA — activates only under certain conditions
6
Copy Certification
Certified true copies of originals
GoNotary247 certifies that a photocopy is a true, complete, and accurate copy of the original document. Accepted in place of originals by universities, employers, and government agencies.
Passports, driver's licenses, birth certificates

Contracts, agreements, and legal documents
⚠️ Nevada notaries CANNOT certify copies of vital records issued by government agencies — those require a certified copy from the issuing agency

Common Questions
Frequently Asked
Questions
What ID do I need to bring for notarization?
+
You must present a current, government-issued photo ID — such as a driver's license, state ID, passport, or military ID. The ID must not be expired. If your ID has recently changed (e.g., name change after marriage), bring additional supporting documentation.
Can GoNotary247 notarize documents in a hospital or care facility?
+
Yes — this is one of the most important services GoNotary247 provides. We regularly visit hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, rehabilitation centers, and private residences for clients who are unable to travel. Please call ahead so we can coordinate with facility staff.
What is the difference between an acknowledgment and a jurat?
+
An acknowledgment verifies that the signer willingly signed the document and was identified — the signer does not need to sign in front of the notary. A jurat requires the signer to sign IN the notary's presence and swear under oath that the contents are true. Jurats are required for affidavits and sworn statements.
Can GoNotary247 notarize documents in a language other than English?
+
GoNotary247 can notarize documents in any language — the notary is certifying the signature, not the content. However, the notary must be able to communicate with the signer directly (or through a qualified interpreter) to verify identity and willingness to sign. The notarial certificate itself must be in English per Nevada law.
How does Remote Online Notarization (RON) work?
+
You'll receive a secure link to join a video call with Ansar Muhammad. Your identity is verified through knowledge-based authentication (KBA) and credential analysis. You'll sign the document electronically in real time, and the notary applies a digital notarial seal. The entire session is recorded and archived. You can be anywhere in the world — only the notary must be in Nevada.
Can GoNotary247 notarize a will?
+
GoNotary247 can notarize the signatures on a will or act as a witness. However, Nevada law does not require a notary on a will — it requires two adult witnesses. A "self-proving affidavit" attached to the will does require notarization and makes probate easier. We strongly recommend consulting an estate planning attorney for wills and trusts.
Does GoNotary247 offer same-day appointments?
+
Yes — same-day and even within-hours appointments are often available depending on Ansar's schedule. For urgent needs, please call or text directly rather than booking online. A same-day or rush fee may apply for last-minute mobile appointments.
Can GoNotary247 prepare my legal documents?
+
No — Nevada notaries are not attorneys and cannot provide legal advice, draft legal documents, or tell you what type of document you need. GoNotary247 notarizes documents that you bring — already prepared and ready to sign. If you need help preparing documents, please consult a licensed Nevada attorney.
